Pool Rules
-ALL POOL RULES WILL BE ENFORCED-
1. Health & Hygiene Requirements
Do not enter the water if you are experiencing or have experienced any of the following within the past 7 days:
- Diarrhea or other gastrointestinal illness
- Fever, vomiting, or flu-like symptoms.
- Any communicable skin disease or open wounds
- Individuals shall not be admitted if they have:
- Excessive sunburn
Open blisters, cuts, or bandages
Sore or inflamed eyes
Nasal or ear discharges
Any other signs of communicable disease - Diaper Use:
- Children who are not toilet-trained must wear swim diapers made for water use
- Diaper changing must be done in designated areas, not poolside.
2. Behavioral Conduct
- No running, pushing, or rough play in or around the pool area.
- No diving in shallow areas or where signs prohibit diving.
- No glass containers, alcohol, or tobacco in or around the pool.
- No food or drink within 5 feet of the water's edge unless permitted in designated zones.
- No pets allowed in the pool area (except service animals).
- All bathers must follow lifeguard and staff instructions at all times
- Do not use the sides of the pool to climb out. Use stairs or ladders to exit.
- Damage to pool property or equipment caused by misuse or negligence may result in financial responsibility.
- Pool Slide
- One rider at a time
- Feet first only — sitting or lying on your back
- No head-first sliding, standing, kneeling, or flipping
- Keep arms and legs inside the slide at all times
- No stopping or climbing while on the slide
- Exit the splash area immediately after landing
- No running on the slide stairs or platform
- No rough housing or horse play on the slide
3. Admission & Fees
- All guests must present a valid government-issued ID upon entry to verify residential status (e.g., municipal residency if required for access or discounted rates).
- All guests must pay the entrance fee, regardless of whether they swim or not. (This policy helps support staffing, maintenance, and safety compliance).
- No re-entry without prior approval or wristband policy (if applicable).
- Guests must check in at the front desk or entry gate before entering pool grounds.
- All sales are final. No refunds will be issued under any circumstances, technical issues, weather conditions, including but not limited to staffing shortages or issues, failure to comply with pool rules, and or any unexpected closures.
- WASHINGTON BOROUGH POOL MANAGEMENT has the right to decline entrance once pool capacity limits have been reached.
4. Supervision Requirements
- Children under 16 must be accompanied and actively supervised by a responsible adult.
- At wading pools and splash pad, lifeguards may not be provided — parental/adult supervision is required.
- No drop-offs: Unattended minors will not be permitted entry.
5. Attire & Personal Items
- Proper swimwear is required — no street clothes, jeans, or undergarments in the pool.
- Swimwear must be appropriate for a family environment.
- Remove all jewelry, watches, and accessories that may damage surfaces or injure bathers.
- Goggles and water shoes are permitted unless otherwise posted.
6. Personal Property & Responsibility
- All guests are responsible for any personal items they bring.
- The facility is not liable for lost, stolen, or damaged belongings.
7. Emergencies & Weather Policy
- Emergency Situations
- In the event of an emergency, follow all lifeguard or staff instructions immediately.
- One long whistle blast or verbal commands may signal an emergency — clear the pool at once.
- Emergency equipment is for staff use only.
- Call 911 for life-threatening emergencies if staff are not present.
- Do not re-enter the pool area until staff declare it safe.
- Thunder & Lightning
- At the first sound of thunder or sight of lightning, the pool will be cleared immediately.
- All swimmers must exit the water and pool deck.
- Patrons should seek shelter inside a building or enclosed vehicle (not under trees, umbrellas, or open shelters).
- The pool will remain closed for at least 30 minutes after the last thunder or lightning is observed.
- Each additional thunder or lightning occurrence resets the 30-minute wait.
- Severe Weather Conditions
- The pool may close due to:
- Heavy rain limiting visibility
- High winds
- Hail
- Severe storms or unsafe air quality
- Any condition deemed unsafe by staff or management
- Closures may be temporary or for the remainder of the day, depending on conditions. -
- Reopening Policy
- The pool will reopen only after staff confirm conditions are safe.
- Entry during a closure is strictly prohibited.
