Letter from Washington Township Fire Prevention Department
Dear Property Owner / Business Owner,
The Borough of Washington has entered into a shared service agreement with Washington Township (Morris County) to provide Fire Prevention services effective April 1, 2019.
All inspection and certification services will still be provided, but will now be through the Washington Township Bureau of Fire Prevention. After April 1st, 2019 all calls and inquiries should be directed to Washington Township (Morris County) at 908-876-8637.
Selling or renting your home? Certificate of smoke alarm carbon monoxide alarm portable fire extinguisher compliance inspection (CSACMAPFEC) requirements can be found on the Washington Township website on the fire prevention page under the department menu. Please call to schedule 2 to 3 weeks from the closing/change of occupancy.
For all fire alarm, sprinkler, hood suppression reports etc, please fax 908-876-5082 or email them.
Fire Safety Permit applications can also be found on our website.

General Duties
The Bureau of Fire Prevention is responsible for enforcing the Uniform Fire Safety Act, enforcing the Uniform Fire Code, and issuing Certificate of Occupancy.
